Hi, I am Jen De Jesus and I am a holistic cosmetologist that specializes in organic hair color and hair care, as well as henna beauty enhancements for the hair, body, and face.  My goal is to help clients achieve beauty through the use of cleaner beauty products, with an emphasis on organically enhancing that which each of us were naturally gifted.

While I have been in cosmetology for nearly two decades, it is through an eclectic array of studies that my desire to pursue this avenue was fueled.  At 18, I sought higher education at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where I studied and graduated with a Mass Media Communications and Journalism degree in 2005.  It is a skillset I have found very useful in this occupation.

I spent much of the next, post-college four years in various industries, from traveling the southeast United States working in promotional marketing, to living in New York City working in fashion for "O" Magazine, to working in publicity for the music industry, and at the end of that timeframe landing in property management. 

By 2008, I felt it time to pursue a fervent childhood dream of mine of becoming a Cosmetologist. A short two years after graduating cosmetology school, I opened a full-size salon and spa called Therapy Hair Salon in Charlotte, NC, alongside a close friend of mine.  

In 2015, after some pointed conversations with clients and some of my own personal health challenges, I decided to seek further education about health and wellness. This time I was led to medicinal herbs, something that quickly showed value and role in health and beauty. I attended Rosemary Gladstar's Sage Mountain: Science and Art of Herbalism program. I studied for four years under one of Gladstar's pupils in the Tampa Area, and apprenticed & lived on her farm for another 2 after that.

Seeing the undeniable need for truly natural products in the beauty industry, and understanding how others could benefit from that support, I began incorporating my herbal practices in with my own beauty regimens, as well as with my clients'. 

I began using Oway Holisitic Hair Care & Hair Color roughly 8 years ago, for my own health as well as my clients'. It is an organic line out of Italy that is free of the harsh, toxic offenders that plague the beauty industry, and is free from all harmful fumes and odors. The color results are deep and long lasting, without the unpleasant side effects of the harsh chemical alternatives vastly used and available in the salon industry.
